UNLUCKY ALBION IN LAST
MINUTE GOAL !
United
2-3 Netherfield Albion (11-12-07)
It
was a last minute goal that meant Albion loose again in 2007. With a
2 week break to the end of the year the Albion would of liked to
have ended the year with a win after a few heavy defeats in recent
weeks. With the new signings of Sean Todd and Ian Draper to the team
Netherfield are starting to show some promise and played very well
in the cold conditions of the Embankment.
Netherfield
started the game much the better side and pressed United back well,
they eventually took the lead when good work by Garrett led to him
putting in a cross that was tapped home for his 1st goal for the
club by Aaron Shelton. Netherfield never looked threatened and went
further ahead when new boy Toddy dribbled in to the box and smashed
home a great shot. United replied just before half time with what
looked to be like an off side goal.
At
2-1 up the Albion should of went on to win this game but United
stepped up there game and became more physical. Netherfield tired
and although they still played some tidy football they kept giving
the ball away. United eventually levelled on 80 min. A draw would of
been a fair result for both teams but United cruelly snatched the
winner with the very last kick of the game.
Netherfield
looked a better team with the addition of new boys Draps and
Toddy, and will surely be a stronger team when Buckley, Parry and
Merrin return.
------------------------------------------------------------
Sean Todd and Ian Draper Join !
Netherfield are pleased to welcome
and announce that the talented Sean Todd has joined the Albion from
Linby CFC. Toddy joined former Matrixgrade team mate Ian (Draps)
Draper in putting pen to paper for the Albion. Pates has been a big
fan of Toddy and has tracked him for a few years, and had hoped to
of signed him some years ago. Draps brings in a wealth of talent to
the team and recently had a short spell with our league opposition
Boots. The Albion welcome them both.
These 2 signings show that the Albion
is moving in the right direction attracting very talented players to
the team. Mark Buckley also returned to the Albion recently. The
Albion now boast an 18 man squad. It would be nice if we can get all
18 to turn out for our 1st game back in 2008.

BUCKLEY BACK HOME !
Another
new signing and more to follow !!!!
Netherfield
welcomed back club favourite Mark Buckley for the game against
Santos on 1st of December. Unfortunately it wasn't a great game to
come back to as the Albion crashed to a heavy defeat. Buckley showed
his talent though bagging the man of the match for Netherfield.
The
Albion have been busy since that defeat and hope to sign the
talented former Matrixgrade player Ian Draper this Saturday. Ian has
recently had a short spell with Boots. Netherfield have approached
Boots to transfer the player and they have given us the go ahead to
sign Draps as he is known. He should make his debut this Saturday
against United FC. Netherfield have also approached another club for
the release of a very talented player who should hopefully be
available Saturday but will remain nameless until the deal has been
done.
Netherfield Albion 1-10
Santos (1-12-07)
After this result it is clear that
Netherfield need to strengthen the team. Santos tore the Albion
apart in the 1st half with former Albion player Nana Eneh doing most
of the damage. It seamed everything they hit went in. The scoreline
was probably unfair on the Albion and not a tru reflection of the
game as Netherfield did play some neat football but Santos were just
to strong in all departments. Santos who boast no less than 6 former
Albion players (only 3 played on the day) The most notable one
being Ben Rowson who served the Albion for many years and also
Richard Roundtree who did not play on the day. Richard was part of
that 96/97 league double winning team.

RIVALS WIN THE LOCAL DERBY !
Netherfield Albion 0-2
Burton Joyce (24-11-07)
Netherfield
cant believe how they got nothing from this game. Burton started
this game with 10 men and played for an hour with the 10. Although
Netherfield had most of the possession they just could not find the
break thru, Burton held the ball well and defended solidly and in
numbers. The Burton keeper pulled off a great save from an Andy
Merrin shot from the edge of the box. Burton took the lead just
before half time when a long throw was flicked on and looped into
the far corner, Garrett in goal had hardly anything to do all 1st
half.
The
second half was much the same as Netherfield kept switching things
around looking for the break thru. Burton Joyce stand in keeper
pulled off 2 more fine saves and one great header was cleared off
the line. As in most games when you are chasing the game the
opposition catch you on the break and that is exactly what happened
in the 80th min for Burton to make it 2-0. Credit to Burton as they
held out well and played some good Football to deny the Albion.
Well
done to all the Albion players as they played well as a team and
deserved much more from this game. Also two more players signed on
Saturday Kieran Thomas (cousins to Dale and Caine) and Mark Shelton
(Aaron's brother) They both had great debuts. Its starting to become
a family thing at the Albion hahaha.

HEAVY DEFEAT !
Beacon
10-0 Netherfield Albion (17-11-07)
Not
worth writing a match report it just wasn't a good day for the
Albion it seamed everything Beacon hit went in. Although Netherfield
battled well in the second half you no its not your day when you hit
the post at 1-0 then later one of your best players limps off after
a nasty tackle, you get a penalty only to see the Beacon keeper pull
off a tremendous save.
The
only plus from this game was the way that all the players held there
heads and carried on trying to play without a moan or whinge. All
players showed great team spirit right to the end, Dennis Hickey
showed great determination to win the ball and also Aaron Shelton
deserves a mention playing out of position. Credit to Beacon as
there pace and passing were spot on and they were well worthy of
their win perhaps by not so many though. |

MEZZER STILL GOT IT !
Premium
1-3 Netherfield Albion (3-11-07)
The
numbers were down again but there is a good team spirit at the
Albion at the moment and there is a very reliable nucleus of players
forming. Premium put up good resistance but the Albion took there
chances well.
Andy
Merrin rolled back the years bagging 2 in his 1st start up front for
Albion in over 2 or 3 seasons. This was another good team
performance although Merrin bags the headlines. The game was a tight
affair with both teams playing some good football. Netherfield took
the lead on 20 when Hickey slotted a lovely thru ball, Cutts ran
clear and smashed the ball in via the post for his 1st goal for
Netherfield. 10 mins later Premium equalised after Marshall lost his
player in the box for him to scramble in the leveller.
The
second half started much the same as the 1st. Premium went close
when a premium player who was at least 2 yards offside ran clean
thru only to see Garrett in goal pull off a great save tipping the
ball onto the post and away. Pates changed the formation to 4-3-3
and within minutes Albion were creating chances. Albion re took the
lead when Hickey again picked a lovely pass to Merrin on the edge of
the box, with time to pick his spot he clipped the ball into the top
corner. Netherfield were also denied what looked like a stone wall
penalty when Hickey was brought down in the box from behind but
amazingly the Ref gave nothing, it took him a minute or so to get
up. An if anyone knows Hickey it takes a lot to keep him down.
Although Premium had some half chances the Albion looked the better
team. As Premium pushed in search of an equaliser Hickey who had a
great game ran past his defender and floated a great cross to find
Merrin running in, he controlled and went round the keeper to make
it 3-1.
Another
great performance from Netherfield, Parry and Marshal once again
working well at the back, Gallagher looking strong and credit to our
latest signing Left back 18 year old Alex Birtwistle who was thrown
in at the deep end but didn't let anyone down. Credit to all the
lads deserved the win.

ALBION GIVE NOTHING AWAY !
Netherfield Albion 0-0
Bulwell Town (27-10-07)
Pates
decided to change the formation to 3-5-2 for this game and it worked
well as the team defended well to earn a point and keep a clean
sheet for the 1st time this season. Although the Albion didn't
create many chances it was important to stop leaking goals.
Bulwell
had the better chances and played the better football but to be fair
they were mainly half chances and never really troubled the Albion
defence. The 2 clear chances Town had they shot wide. Marshall,
Hickey and Parry sweeping at the back looked very solid with the
help of Gallagher and Shelton on the flanks getting back to help.
Dale thomas played a holding role in midfield and looks to be
getting better the more he settles in the team. The best chance
Albion had was when a well supported Bone ( his mates were up from
Wycombe for a night out and on the touchline ) flighted a ball in
the box only for new boy Cutts to head wide. Very late in the game
Wolfie had a chance to nick it but was closed down as he ran out of
energy thru on goal. Bulwell did have a good shout for a penalty
when after Carey replaced Garrett in goal he raced out and looked to
have brought down Rielly in or on the edge of the box but the ref
gave nothing. Albion also had a shout for a penalty but that wasn't
as clear as Bulwells.
A
great team performance by all as Bulwell Town are a very good side
and hard to beat. Albion need to build on this result and things
look like they are getting better on the pitch as well as off it.
The recent signings of Aaron Shelton, Leon Pelham and Joseph Cutts
have added competition for places. The squad has grown to 17 with 5
in the wings that will help out every now and again.

TRIDENT GIVE A LESSON IN
FINISHING!
Netherfield Albion 2-7
Trident (20-10-07)
Netherfield put a poor performance in after such a
great display the week before. Trident prepared better and looked a
better team on the pitch. It didn't help with Netherfield having to
make changes again to the starting line up with 4 missing from the
week before. But it was poor defending and missed opportunities that
cost the Albion. 4-1 down at half time with 2 of the Trident goals
being gifts from the Albion defence. The only highlight was a
stunning Garrett shot from the edge of the box.
Netherfield started the second half a much better
side after Pates re shuffled the team and for 20 mins tore in to
Trident but couldn't finish. They paid the price when Hickey
unluckily scored an home goal to put Trident further ahead. At 5-1
it was game over and although Sessions pulled one back the team just
gave up and let Trident run out easy winners at 7-2.
Netherfield gave debuts to Dale Thomas and Aaron
Shelton who both played well but it has been said before we need consistency
by putting out the same team every week. |

ALBION EDGE IT !
Nottinghamshire
1-2 Netherfield Albion (13-10-07)
The Albion Just got the better of Nottinghamshire.
It was a close game as the scoreline indicates and could of gone
either way with both teams going close in the 1st half. Netherfield
took the lead on 20 when a Parry free kick was drilled in to the
danger area, a Notts player jumped and glanced the ball in to his
own net with Parry claiming the goal. Notts soon replied 10 mins
later when it looked like Gallagher was brought down Albion stood
still and the ball fell kindly for Notts who gave stand in keeper
Garrett no chance. Garrett saved well from a long range shot just
after.
The second half was an even encounter with both
teams playing well. It was Netherfield that took lead on 70 when
Nicholas raced clear, the advancing keeper fluffed the clearance and
Nicholas scored in to the empty net. Notts 5 mins later thought they
had scored when a crashing shot hit the crossbar to the line then
clear. Notts pressed but could not break down a rigid Netherfield
defence with Parry and Merrin pairing well. You could see Parry didn't
want to concede as he chased and won just about everything. A great
team performance and much improved than the previous 2 matches.
SHOCK SIGNINGS !
Dale
Thomas and Leon Pelham From Winning Post.
It
is announced today that the talented lively character Dale Thomas
from our league rivals Winning Post has contacted the club
expressing has desire to join the Albion. Pates has known Dale for a
few years now and is ecstatic to have such a dedicated talented
player coming on board. It is a bit of a shock as Dale is the
Secretary for W.P.F.C. and has been instrumental in their climb up
the league but he has been disappointed with the lack of help in
recent months at W.P.F.C. Also Leon Pelham will also
be joining. Leon has not played a game for W.P.F.C. he is also the
brother of Nathan Wolfe and although lacking fitness Leon will add more talent to
the ever growing squad.

KNOCKED OUT !
Middleton
Villa 6-0 Netherfield Albion (6-10-07)
Netherfield Albion are dumped out of the cup in
the 1st round. Once again it was a week with to many changes to the
starring line up. Only 5 players started this game that started the
week before. Although new faces are arriving we need to get a
settled team so as to form some sort of consistency. Netherfield
signed on 2 players that will help out when they can but they had to
be thrown in at the deep end which does not help. A couple of
players had work commitments but it seams to be far to easy for some
players to just turn up as and when. This does not help when you are
trying to build a settled side.
Middleton took the lead within 30 seconds of the
start when a ball was punted forward Garret tried to clear but it
bounced off a Middleton player kindly to his team mate, he ran clear
and scored giving the stand in keeper Murphy no chance. After that
Netherfield played some good football and looked the better side but
couldn't finish. They paid the price in the last few minutes of the
half when the ball flew into the top corner of the Albion goal from
a speculative shot.
Netherfield were struggling to get back in the
game and went 3 down within 10mins of the second half. Albion new it
wasn't their day when a goal bound effort from Sessions was cleared
of the line. Middleton made it 4 with what looked like a well
offside goal and it was game over as Netherfield fell to pieces
allowing Middleton to make it 5 then 6 with a late penalty.
If we can get all the players to turn up every
week then looking at what we have onboard the team should get better
and start to gel, but if we have to keep making so many drastic
changes from one week to the next it will only spiral out of control
and the quality players that we have will get pissed off and leave.
That is not a good sign as I have been here before.

ALBION EMBARRASSED !
Netherfield
Albion 0-6 Boots (29-09-07)
Netherfield struggled to field a full eleven
sparking echoes of my last time in charge. Its just not good enough
and its not fair on myself and the players that are willing to turn
up and play for the club. Credit goes to the 11 that went out and
did their best for the club on Saturday. Pates had potentially seven
subs on Friday night that whittled down to being 1 short half our
before kick off. Although some let me no that they were injured or
away before Saturday some did not and on behalf of the players that
did turn up Pates is asking those who let us down not to bother if
they are not committed. They also missed an opportunity to claim a
place in the starting line up.
Veteran 41 year old and loyal club friend Ian
Wilkinson who came down to Ref the game had to sign and play
carrying an injury. Phil Schofield also suffered an injury very
early on which effectively put the team down to 9 men. Also
Netherfield were lucky enough to sign Danny Sessions on the day.
I wont take credit away from Boots as they looked
well organised and played some nice football with their new recent
signing from last seasons Matrixgrade team. And if you give a player
like Alan Avery in midfield time to on the ball he will hurt you
with his passing game. Netherfield looked a bit casual from the
start and with Boots recent results probably thought they would win
without much effort but as I mentioned in the pre match that a
result has to be earned no matter who you come up against. Glyn
Handsford opened up the scoring for Boots and Netherfields shaky
defence looked like they would concede every time Boots attacked. It
was 4-0 at half time.
Pates re-organised with the injured Phil Schofield
having to play in goal forcing Carey to play out who is also
struggling with a past injury. Unfortunately Netherfield missed a
few chances to get back in the game and although battled well they
let another goal in on 55 and Boots made it 6 with the very last
kick of the game.
Devon Graham won our man of the match for the
second week in a row and Steve Parry and Luke Dixon the 17 year old
never stopped running deserving a mention. Although all players may
admit they didn't play well they can all hold their heads up high as
they turned up and put up a brave effort in the second half.
I have been re-assured that I will have at least 3
more definite certainties available for next weeks cup game. As for
them that do not contact me to let me no they are not coming or who
are not committed enough then don't bother as they are wasting my
time and letting the Club and their team mates down.

CLUB LEGENDS ANSWER THE
CALL
Netherfield
Albion 4-2 winning Post (22-09-07)
Familiar faces where back in the Albion colours
for the start of a new era at Netherfield with Pates taking control
once again. The call was put out and 4 players that have been so
loyal to Pates and Netherfield came. These four players have served
the club well over the years Andy (Mez) Merrin has been associated
with the club for as long as Pates has, Stef Carey the passionate club man
and 96/97 cup winner, Schofield who had played for Pates for
about 8 years and the still very talented and skilful player that
did and still can turn defences on the heads Steve Brodsky. Former
player Devon Graham who has had 2 short spells with club also made
it a winning start with a goal on his debut. Pates also welcomed lively cant shut him up (hahaha) former Matrixgrade player
Daz Marshall. Also making a scoring debut was Paul Nicholas who
actually scored carrying an injury late on. It was so pleasing to
bring a group of players together who hardly no each other and see
them gel so well and wear the Netherfield shirt with pride and
passion. All 13 players deserve great credit. Netherfield would also
like to thank a good Club friend who has helped in talking a few
players into coming to the club he shall remain nameless but many
thanks.
With so many changes it was going to take time to
settle and Winning post looked the better team to start. They took
the lead with a set piece corner that was met with a free header.
Netherfield pulled one back thru Kriss Garrett before half time the
game was evenly balanced.
Winning Post looked much the better side for the
1st 15 of the second half and took the lead again when Hickey
brought a player down in his own box. The big talented Dale Thomas
smashed home the penalty. The game looked to be drifting away from
Netherfield so Pates brought on young Matt Brown and Steve Brodsky
and put 3 strikers up front. This turned the game as Brodsky went
past 3 defenders to set up a goal for Graham to level things. Brown
was sent clear and a mix up between keeper and defender allowed
Brown to stick out a leg and poke the ball in from the edge of the
box. Brodsky went close with a swivel shot before setting up
Nicholas to score late on.
All the players played very well. Luke Dixon
deserves a mention as the 18 year old got better and more confident
as the game went on. Steve Parry playing his 1st game for Pates also
looked very solid. Pates although on crutches at the moment enjoyed
the win and is looking forward to making progress with this new
team.
With Richard Gallagher, Gary Bone, and the pacy
Nathan Wolfe who has decided to team up with Pates again and return,
things look very bright at the Albion. It is also hoped that Dale
Raynor and possibly another player will sign in the coming
weeks.

THE CLUB ROLLS ON !
Pates
and Hickey to Re-Build ! (20-09-07)
Pates has been in talks with several
players over the last few days and is pleased to announce that the
response is good. Only 3 players from Saturday's bad result are
staying with the club. The Captain Dennis Hickey, Kriss Garrett and
the very talented Steve Parry. Pates will also welcome back previous
Albion Players in Richard Gallagher a strong defender, Phil
Schofield that tricky winger and also subject to a transfer the
passionate strong utility player that is Stef Carey. There is also
an attempt to bring in 2 other former players that are being chased
by Pates at the moment as well as a few other players from NAA teams
that are being contacted as they are not playing for any clubs at
the moment. The very talented attacking midfielder Gary Bone
will also be re-Joining the club in early October when he returns to
the city from his home town Wycombe to continue his studies at the
University.
Also all the former Netherfield Colt
under 18s players are also being asked to return to the club and
help build a strong competitive team to compete in the Premier
division. 8 from 16 signed on at the club but left last week
refusing to play as they were very unsettled. With Pates and Hickey
now running things their way it is hoped that the majority will come
and play for Netherfield Albion and continue with their success and
progress that they have had under John White at Netherfield
Colts.
Any Player wishing to Join the Club
please contact Pates at : shaun.pates@hotmail.co.uk
.
UPDATE : (21-09-07) I
am pleased to announce that we have secured the capture of the
pacy talented player Devon Graham to play for the Albion once again.Matt Brown and Luke Dixon
from the Colts have made themselves available for
Saturday game versus Winning Post. Also its great news that
former Matrixgrade players Dale Raynor and Daz Marshall have also
decided to come on board |

PATES BOWS OUT WITH A SMILE AND YES A GOAL !
STANTON
ILKESTON 6-2 NETHERFIELD
ALBION
Pates had thought he had played his
last game last week but with only 10 of us turning up for his last
game in charge he once again donned the gloves. Pates also decided
to skipper his last game in charge and what a day he had. When
Netherfield won a penalty all the Albion players demanded Pates took
it as Pates has never scored a competitive goal in 23 years of
playing local football. Although it took an age for the big man to
get to the other end, he smashed the ball cleanly into the bottom
left corner sending the keeper the wrong way. The Pates smile had
never been so wide as all the players celebrated. Also a nice moment
as his son Callum who was there to witness it.
The game itself was played in very
good spirit with both teams playing well and with a smile on their
faces. Even the referee joined in with the banter. Stanton scored 4
very good goals and a couple of easy ones due to Pates not as he
used to be. Devon Graham got the other Albion goal.
As well as being quite an emotional
day for Pates it was also big Kieran Edwards last game for Stanton
and he also deserves a mention, a lively character with a heart of
gold good luck in the future from the Albion.
With Pates stepping down as Manager
but offering to run the club in the background as secretary its an
uncertain future at the moment for Netherfield Albion. There are one
a two options on the table at the moment and one reliable person has
stepped forward to offer to take the managers job on and run things
on match days. Netherfield are keeping all options open at the
moment but need somebody to come in and build on what we have so as
to compete in the 07/08 season.

OLD BOYS SWAN SONG !
NETHERFIELD
ALBION 5-3 BOTTESFORD
Netherfield
were once again down to a bare 11 and it was old boys Pates and
Wilkinson that stepped in to make up the numbers. Both club legends
vowed that this was defiantly the last ever time that they will play
Saturday football and wear the Albion colours. It was nice that the
2 old mates from school could play together in their last game.
Wilko was named as Skipper for the day and was like a man reborn
actually bagging a hat trick.
The
game started with Netherfield looking the brighter and took the lead
with a Graham header. A penalty was awarded to Netherfield and it
was Wilko who pulled rank and slotted the ball in. Pates 5 min later
made a blunder letting the ball thru his legs not for the 1st but defiantly
the last time Ha ha ha allowing Bottesford to pull 1 back. They levelled
3 min later after some sloppy defensive errors. Another penalty was
awarded to the Albion and that man Wilko stepped up and smashed the
ball in for 3. Bottesford were fired up though and once again
levelled after a shot deflection went in the top corner.
Netherfield
took control in the second half and the defence looked more solid largely
down to Wheat and especially John Harris who had a superb game.
Wheat hit a long pass that Let in Rowson, he raced clear and coolly
slotted the ball pass the advancing keeper. That man Wilko Made it 5
and his hat trick when he rose from a corner and headed in. What a
great way to bow out for the 43 year old.
Credit
to both sets of players putting in a lot of effort on a very hard
pitch in the blazing sunshine with nothing to play for. Also many
many thanks to Ian Wilkinson who has been a great servant and
character at the Albion.

EARLY BLITZ STUN THE ALBION !
TRIDENT
4-3 NETHERFIELD
ALBION
Netherfield
were hit by 3 goals in 12 mins by a well up for it Trident. The game
started at a frantic pace and with the wind at their backs Trident
punished the Albion for some sloppy defensive errors in the early
stages. The Albion settled after 15 and were denied by 2 great saves
and a couple of shots going wide. The game became even harder for
the Albion when Nixon was sent of on the half hour mark for apparently
abusing the Referee who happened to be the Trident manager as the
allotted referee never shown. That decision was made a bit too quick
as Nixon like many others were just annoyed at the Referees
decisions and it could of ended the game as he was not controlling
the game at all and tempers were mounting.
With
ten men the Albion grew stronger and were pushing Trident all the
way but on 50 a cross was not dealt with and was nodded in to make
it 4 and you might of thought game over. But the Albion are quite resilient
these days and fought back well forcing back Trident in to a
defensive manner. When the Albion attacked they always looked like
they might score and score they did. That man Nana Eneh doing the
damage he hit another stunning hat trick to make it 4-3. Trident
were now panicking every time the 10 men of Albion attacked.
Netherfield nearly grabbed a very late equaliser but it wasn't to
be. Netherfield if not for those early shock 3 goals and the
dismissal of Nixon may well of won this game but credit to
Trident for the way they attacked the Albion and defended so well.

A NIXON HAT TRICK STUNNS BJ !
NETHERFIELD ALBION
5-2 BURTON JOYCE
It
was the man that never stops running that stole the show on Saturday
Mark Nixon with a great hat trick. Netherfield fielded probably their
best team out against Burton Joyce and came away with their best
result of the season.
The
game started well with both teams playing some good football. the
1st goal came with Jackson nipping in the box and getting the goal.
BJ equalised but the Albion soon replied after good work from Eneh
in the box fed Nixon to slot home. Nixon headed a third and BJ
looked stunned, they probably came into the match underestimating
the new Netherfield.
Both
teams were working hard in the second half but the Albion always
looked the more threatening with Nixon and Eneh looking like a great
partnership up front. What chances came BJ 's way Jackson, Turner
Key and Wheat at the back dealt with very well. Danny Smith took the
roll as Captain on the day and him and Graham in the centre of
midfield worked very well together. You felt there were more goals
in this game and Nixon notched his hat trick on 75. BJ replied 5
mins later with a good set piece goal from a corner the BJ player
thumped a header that gave Regan no chance. 4-2 soon became 5 when
the talented Eneh made space for himself in the box and slotted home
for his 10th in 5 games.
A
great result for the Albion that lifts them 1 place, now above
Boots. A great team performance that was great to watch for the
spectator. If this team started the season it makes you wonder what
position they would of been in now with only loosing 2 out the last
11 games since xmas what a turn around. Kriss Garrett and all the
players that are sticking with it deserve a pat on the back.

THE WOLFE
IS BACK TO EARN 10 MEN ALBION A WIN !
BOOTS
ATH 'A' 1-3 NETHERFIELD ALBION
Nathan Wolfe got back to what he does
best and bagged 2 goals to earn the Albion a hard fought win.
Netherfield once again only just managed to field 11 players and
paid the price when skipper Andy Richardson limped off after
15. Netherfield took the
lead early thru a bone header but Boots soon replied on 20 min and
could of took the lead after winning a penalty but Nixon in goal
pulled off a great save. Boots paid the price when Wolfe tapped home
to make it 2-1. Boots had a lot of possession in the second half but
didn't really threaten the Albion goal that was largely down to some
good defending by Danny Wheat who was excellent on the day. Wolfe
got his second with a glancing header from a corner, Infact the 10
Albion players all worked incredibly hard on the day to earn the
Netherfield a valuable win. |

NANA ENEH ON FIRE
AND HITS 4 !
NETHERFIELD ALBION 4
- 0
PREMIUM
Netherfield
came out on top of this vital game versus Premium. That was largely
down to the superb finishing by Nana Eneh who just cant seam to stop
scoring. 9 goals yes that's 9 in 3 games now.
The
Albion didn't have it all their own way though as Premium looked the
more dangerous in the early stages. It was a thru ball by Garrett
that started the scoring Nana slotted in off the post. A long Garret
throw earned Nana his second as he leapt the highest to nod in.
Another Long throw caused panic and Nana smashed the loose ball
home. Amongst those goals Regan did make a good save from a long
Premium shot.

The second half was a dull affair as
both teams cancelled each other. Regan pulled off another good save
and lived a charmed life as Premium hit the post. Nana Eneh wrapped
up the scoring with his 4th goal when he was sent clean through and
hit a tame shot that some how went under the advancing keeper. Not a
great game to watch but a clean sheet for the 1st time this season
and jumping above premium in the league made the win more enjoyable.

NANA LAST GASP
WINNER !
NETHERFIELD ALBION 4-3
BEACON FC
For the neutral watching this was a
great game of football to watch as both teams played some quality
football. This game could of been 8-8 at the final whistle instead
of 4-3. In the end it was a great solo goal by new boy Nana Eneh in
the dying minutes that won the game. Thats 5 goals in 2 games now
for Nana. The game started at a
fast pace and Netherfield took the lead in the 1st 2 minutes. Nana
Eneh was played a lovely ball that split the defence he raced clear
and slotted the ball under the advancing keeper. The game was end to
end and beacon levelled when a shot on the edge of the box took a
deflection and nestled into the bottom corner of John Harris's goal.
Nixon made it 2-1 when he latched on to a thru ball by Eneh and once
again beat the keeper 1 on 1. Chances where missed at both ends
Beacon hitting a couple shots wide when clean thru as well as Harris
pulling of a superb one handed save. The Beacon keeper was also in
fine form as he pulled off 2 great saves to deny Eneh and Nixon.
Netherfield ended the half thinking they should of been at least 4-1
up. The second half started
with Beacon looking the brighter and 10 mins in they levelled when
the Albion failed to clear their lines. When Beacon took the lead to
make it 3-2 Netherfield looked like the game might slip away from
them as Beacon looked the fitter and stronger. But Netherfield are
made of stronger stuff these days and after a little re organising
and the introduction of Garret things turned. Garrett nearly scored
with his 1st kick of the game. 2 mins later he levelled the scores
when he swivelled on the edge of the box and hit a shot thru the
defenders legs to the bottom corner leaving the Beacon keeper flat
footed. Both teams would of probably settled for the draw but there
were still chances happening at both ends and Beacon should of
scored in the last 5 when he had virtually an empty net to
shoot at, but the player shot wide again. They were made to pay for
that miss in the last 2 minutes as Nane Eneh was sent clear as
Beacon pushed up the field, once again Nana faced the keeper 1 on 1
rounded him and smashed home the winner. It was harsh on Beacon as I
don't think either side deserved to loose this game a game that was
played in good spirit at a fast pace with lots of neat football also
with no nasty tackles and no bookings, just a very good entertaining
game of football. Credit to both sets of players. Well done to all
the Albion players, although Nana Eneh bagged the man of he match
every Netherfield player gave 120% and deserves a pat on the back. |

BULWELL WIN
CONVINCINGLY !
BULWELL
3-0
NETHERFIELD ALBION
Netherfield short of key players struggled to get
to grips with a strong Bulwell outfit. Although defending well
Bulwel were always in control of this match and had several good
chances in the 1st half. It took nearly an hour though before they
broke the deadlock after a ball was laid back by the impressive
Fuller for Spencer to hit a great shot in to the Netherfield net.
Bulwell made it 2 just before the Albion had their 1st good chance,
Devon Graham went clean thru but the keeper pulled off a great save.
Bulwell
made it 3 on 80 mins and it was game over, a game that Netherfield
were never really in. Netherfield passed it well and battled well
but never really created many chances and cant complain about the
result, were as they could as well as Bulwell complain about the
Referee who was never in control of this game. |
