Netherfield Albion 2 - Southwell Amateurs 2

Albion win on Penalties 3 - 0

Congratulations to the first team after defeating MAA side Southwell Amateurs who were previously undefeated this year.  After 120 minutes could not seperate the sides the tie went to the roulette of Penalties with Albion keeper Scott Miles proving his worth saving all 3 Southwell Efforts.  Kirk and Ellis the Albion scorers in normal time.

See below for the Penalty action and aplogies to Pete Shaw who took the first Albion Pen as he was that quick I either missed it or fainted that it wasnt in our goal for a change.

Albion Res 1 - FC Dynamo 2

Netherfield Albion Came away from Colwick with no points after a dissapointing performance against fellow high flyers FC Dynamo after leading 1 - 0 at half time the Albion where unable to hold on in the second half to concede the winner with only minutes remaining Lewis jones the Albion Scorer.

Cup Action for Netherfield.

Netherfield Now turn there attention to the County cups next week with tough ties for both Albion sides against higher ranked opposition this will be a fantastic test for both sides to see how far they have come this term.

Albion's firsts travel to Cotgrave Welfare in the Intermediate Section looking to avenge the 4 -3 defeat in the same competition last season.

Albion's Seconds travel to high flying Calverton Miners Welfare Academy who narrowly beat our firsts 3 - 2 in the domestic league.

We would like to wish both our sides all the best of luck and to enjoy the occasion.

The firsts return to league action the week after at home to Awsworth however the Seconds will take part in there second cup game in a fortnight against top of the NAA division 3 Notts Metropolis Res in the NAA junior Cup.

Basford United Res 1 - Netherfield Albion 1

Netherfield’s 1st's went to top of the table basford for this early kick off looking to stop the rot of successive defeats, Gareth Ellis was the Albion scorer late on to gain a creditable draw against a team who will certainly be there or there about's come may.

FC Dynamo 4 - Netherfield Albion Res 6

Netherfield’s 2nd's went to the home of FC Dynamo on the back of a 2 good results and looking to continue there good start against an unknown side who had previously won 3-0 the week before.  On another glorious day and on a small and uneven pitch the Netherfield Side knew it would be imperative to try and keep it short and simple.  The first 15 min's wen t to plan and soon the Albion were 2 to the good the first from Ozzy and then Danny Sessions.  However the Albion took there foot off the gas and allowed Dynamo back in, to go in at the break 2 -2.

Harsh but fair words were echoed out at the interval and even though the Albion started the brighter could not turn there possession and chances into goals. Resulting in dynamo taking an unexpected lead in the tie to make it 3-2, Danny sessions then got his second to level before a penalty was awarded to dynamo who duly accepted the gift and restored there lead.

Albion rang the changes with 20 left to play and on came schofield and Rob up front.  The changes had an immediate impact with schofield supplying a lovely diagonal ball into the space for parry to finish and level the scores once more.  What followed was a resurgent Albion gunning for all three points that should have been won in the first half had it not been for sloppy errors and no communication.  Ozzy drilled in his second from the edge of the box and after a great surging run from lance Clarke he drew the foul and ozzy completed his deserved hat trick  to seal the points and the win.

Netherfield Albion 1 - Wollaton Res 2

A solo goal from Phil Mcginty was all the Albion had to show from what was described as a much improved performance against an undefeated Wollaton side who won the game through two great finishes.  The firsts still looking for there next win after a run of four successive defeats but the signs are there that this will not be far away.

Netherfield Albion Res 2 - Burton Albion 1

The Seconds continued there good start to the season putting in an impressive display against favoured title challengers Burton United.  In a local derby on a scorching hot day Danny sessions first goal of the campaign and a bullet from 35 yards from Lance Clarke sealed the win.  Although the game was end to end the Albion never gave up fought for every ball and deserved there win.  Now up to fourth in the table after two games the signs are looking positive as the players begin to gel.

Netherfield 4 - Boots Res 5

No info so far from this high scoring encounter that saw Albion slip to there third defeat in succession.

Sherwood Social 0 - Netherfield Res 0

Albion's Seconds began there league campaign with a hard fought 0 - 0 at Melbourne park, in tough conditions both sides battled and fought in what was a game of few clear cut chances although both sides hit the woodwork neither side could force the goal that would of surely secured 3 points.  Positives was a clean sheet and spirit in the camp the foundations are very much set to build on a successful campaign this term.

Kimberley MW 4 - Netherfield Albion 3

Netherfield Lost there second consecutive game against a spirited Kimberley side in a topsy turvy game that swayed both ways in an enthralling encounter.  Netherfield will feel that the game should of and could of been won had it not been for 4 gifted goals that gave the home side victory.  On a bad night Daz Williamson was also sent from the field of play for a last man challenge after scoring twice on his return.

Netherfield 2 - Southwell City Res 5

A very disappointing result against a well organised, physical Southwell City side that saw the Albion come away with the amount of points they deserved from a lack lustre display.

A change of formation from the familiar 4-4-2 seemed to cause the Albion problems and were 2-0 down after 10 minutes Netherfield finally getting to grips in the last 20 minutes of the half pulling a goal back through Gareth Ellis only to see a fantastic finish from the Southwell number 9 make it 3 -1 at the break.

Netherfield returned to 4 -4 2 after the break and the game was a much more even affair however it wasn’t enough and on chances created alone Southwell deserved the points eventually running out 5 -2 winners Gareth Ellis once again scoring from the spot to claim his second of the day.

Netherfield 3 - Radcliffe Olympic Res 2

Netherfield hosted there first home game of the season on a wet Wednesday night, Albion going in at half time 3 -1 up from goals by Paul Nicholas and Sean Todd 2.  The second half was an even affair and although Radcliffe reduced the arrears to 1 the Albion defended well to take all three points.

Calverton MW 3 - Netherfield Albion 2

Netherfield Albion Went to Calverton hoping to carry on from where they left off at Clifton, on a hot Wednesday evening, poor preparation, late arrivals and poor attitude left the Albion with too much of a mountain to climb trailing 3 -0 at one point against a hard working, youthful Calverton side. Although Goals from Joe Jackson and Robbie Wallace restored some pride Netherfield will feel bitterly disappointed that if they had started with the same passion and determination at the start of the game that they ended with a share of the spoils would have been the least they would of come away with, however take nothing away from the hosts who hustled and bustled for every ball and never gave the Albion an inch of time or space to settle.

Clifton Res 3 - Netherfield Albion 5

Netherfield Albion Began there debut season away at the Norman Archer Memorial Ground and came away with all three points following a decent first showing.  Kirk marked his first team call up with 2 well taken finishes both provided by strike partner Alan Hendricks.

Alan then got on the score sheet after a great flowing move found himself one and one and delightfully dinked the keeper. Joe Jackson rounded off the scoring with 2 well taken finishes to complete the scoring.

New Management Teams at the Albion

Netherfield Albion have announced that the Management of both 1st and 2nd Teams will be altered due to restructuring of the club.  Andy Littlewood and Ray Walker will take control of the 1st Team squad in there debut season in the NSL, with Alan Avery becoming General Manager and Ian Draper resuming playing duties.

The second team duo of Phil Schofield and Pete Wilding will this term be assisted by Adam Stevenson, all 3 managers will be hoping to build on the solid start of last season and no doubt will be aiming to push all the way this term in the fight for honours.

Netherfield Lift The Title

NAA Premier League Champions 08/09

Well done Everyone involved throughout, a brilliant Team effort and well deserved for a superb season. Onwards and Upwards

Netherfield 1sts Top NAA Prem

Congratulations go to the 1st team squad who are now placed top of the Notts Amateur Prem.

After what was described as an awful first half performance from manager Alan Avery, the
team bounced back in the second half to produce a much better display to take the victory 4 - 2
away at Ashland Rovers, this followed an impressive win away against struggling Santos 5 - 2. This now leaves the Albion a point ahead of the rest but with two tough
fixtures in the next two weeks the squad must know that they cannot rest on there last result
and that maximum points against Arnold Longbow and Vernon Villa are a must if they want to
continue there push to be champions.

The second squad who currently lie bottom of the Second division faced tough opposition in 2nd place and flying Kashmir. With the squad down to a bare 11 and both player managers Pete wilding and Phil schofield starting the team bonded very well and for the first 20 minutes really took the game to Kashmir playing neat and tidy attacking football, however as is football if you don't take your chances when your on top you get punished. Two goals in quick succession from Kashmir against the run of play gave the away side a 2 - 0 half time lead.

The second half continued like the first with Netherfield applying a lot of pressure and not allowing Kashmir to play even though they had an extra man in midfield, Netherfield continued to create chances most notably debutant Kyle who had one cleared of the line and narrowly firing over the bar from a tight angle, Kashmir where then reduced to ten with 10 minutes left to play following a torrent of abuse towards the referee, however although Netherfield pushed and pushed Kashmir showed there title potentials by holding firm. Unlucky for Netherfield who certainly matched there opposition on the day showing a lot more team spirit and will to win and were never two goals the worse team.

Netherfield Albion End Of 2008 Round Up

Grey Mare 2 - Netherfield Albion 1

Gedling Southbank 0 - Netherfield Albion 5

Netherfield Albion 6 - Gedling Southbank 2

Netherfield Albion 1 - FC Samba 4

Match Report kindly taken from fc Sambas website

Samba made the short trip to Gedling Town's ground to take on Netherfield Albion, for the return fixture following Samba's 3-1 win earlier in the season.

Samba once again lined up 3-5-2, with Bassett, C.Taylor, Brunt and Sharp all coming into the side after the cup defeat by Santos.

On a large but good playing surface, Samba knew Netherfield would be a stiff test, as they are a good footballing side. The opening exchanges were even enough, with both sides committed in the tackle. Albion liked to use the flanks and did so to good effect putting in a succession of crosses which were dealt with by the Samba defence, although nervously so on occasions. Up front for Samba G.Taylor and Brewer were working hard and held the ball up well for Hill and Brunt in particular to get forward.

Samba took the lead after 20 minutes when a neat one two between G.Taylor and Brunt saw the midfielder accelarate beyond the Albions defence and with the keeper committing himself, Brunt slide the ball home confidently.

Netherfield were not going to take this lying down and roared back at Samba with a succession of attacks. They hit the post when a shot took a slight deflection of the lunging boot of Bassett and another long range effort clipped the top of the bar. Nicholls also made a smart save, diving at the feet of the forward.

Samba had a golden chance to make it 2-0, when Brewer pounced on a very poor kick by the keeper and rolled it to G.Taylor but his shot trickled wide. Samba were getting some joy down the flanks, particularly through the raiding Misouda and this lead to a succession of corners that were generally well defended.

Albion were a constant threat however, and they got what they will consider to be a deserved equaliser when a cross was fired over from the right the ball got caught in a melee of players and was knocked back in front of an empty net for the Albion player to slide in, despite a desperate lunge from C.Taylor.

The goal did not affect Samba's spirit and before half time they found themselves back in front. A move down Samba's right saw the cross come in and although the keeper saved the initial shot, Hill was on hand to tap the ball in.

Half Time: FC Samba 2 v 1 Netherfield Albion

The second half started well for Samba and within the first minute they came so close to extending their lead. Wilford whipped in a corner and Brewer at the back post headed against the post with the keeper beaten. The Albion keeper then excelled to keep out a fierce drive from Brunt.

The game was stretched and Netherfield produced the move of the match raiding down their right side, they exchanged passes before the winger cut back the ball, perfectly for the Albion striker. HIs shot was brilliantly hit but magnificantly saved by Nicholls. It was an all round exhibition of quality football.

Netherfield really turned the screw and the match was remarkably similar to the previous encounter at Burton Road. Albion pushed and pushed but Samba's rearguard action lead by C.Taylor, Wilkinson and Sharp was dogged and determined, and when required Nicholls handling was perfect.

At a time when Netherfield thought they might get back into the match, they were hit by a killer blow. Samba were awarded a free kick in the centre circle. Wilford saw Hill making an early run and picked him out brilliantly. Hill ran through the static defence to lift the ball over the keeper and give Samba some breathing space.

Albion never gave up but after the two-goal cushion had been established Samba did not look like being denied. Although pinned back for long periods, Samba stood firm and although their passing game suffered, it was understandable given the circumstances.

Hill was replaced by Holloway in midfield and E.Taylor replaced an exhausted Bassett at left wing back but it did not disrupt Samba's rhythm. With a minute to go Samba put the icing on a terrific team display with a breakaway fourth goal. Brewer was put clear in the left hand channel but had plenty of work to do. He took his time, entered in the box before squaring for Brunt who had given a lung busting run into the box. He took one touch before side footing home to gave Samba a great victory.

Overall, although at times Samba were unable to play as much football as possibly they would have liked, the commitment, energy and organisation was fantastic. When Samba did have a chance to play they created chances and the level of satisfaction after the game was unsurpassed by any match this season.
